Our Principals
Our Principals lead our company and our staff by example.
Jim Rogers, Principal
For Jim Rogers, success in business comes down to one crucial factor:
building successful relationships. As a competitive athlete, he
learned early on that outstanding achievements are usually the result
of cooperation and collaboration between individuals. This knowledge
has carried over into his career in the insurance industry, where he
has devoted himself to helping others thrive.
"I love to see others
operate in their own world with passion, conviction and professional
discipline, regardless of what they may seek to achieve. This may be as
a doctor, an athlete, a parent, whatever their gift. I light up when
others seek to be the best they can be."
It is this approach that Jim brings to Rogers & Norman. Where others might see a company and its employees, Jim sees individuals who each bring unique talents and skills to the team. He doesn't believe in hierarchy - at Rogers & Norman all employees are treated as equal colleagues. Ultimately, Jim’s goal as one of the team leaders at Rogers & Normal is to work together with both colleagues and clients to provide each client with solutions tailored to their insurance needs.
Jim holds a BA in Business from the University of Washington. He has achieved the distinction of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), the most advanced degree in the insurance field, as well as Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). He served as President of the Independent Agent and Brokers of Washington (IIABW) in 2008, and he was honored by the IIABW as King County's Agent of the Year in 2009. He is a three-term member of the President's Council at Safeco Insurance Group.
Jim is a firm believer in giving back to the
communities and organizations that have helped him to become a success.
He's an active fundraiser for the US Olympic Teams, having had had the
privilege of competing on the US Olympic Handball Team in 1972 and
1976. He set up the James G. Rogers Jr. Endowment for the Journey
Program at Seattle Children's Hospital, which provides counseling to
parents and siblings who passed.
Jim and his wife Trish live an active life together, including participating in sports, gardening, and cherishing family and friends. They have two grown daughters - Jennifer is an insurance professional at Rogers & Norman and Jessica is a third year medical student. Jim's son, Christopher is a US Marine Corps Captain, Harrier Pilot.

Alex Bogaard, Principal
A partner in the firm, Alex leads the Commercial Operations of Rogers
& Norman. He works hand-in-hand with customers to identify and
evaluate risks, bringing underwriting experience (risk assessment from
the insurance provider side) to his role — which means he helps
translate client needs into language that insurance companies
understand so they get the right coverage. A detail person that sees
the big picture, he works with clients to take a long-term view of
their business insurance needs.
In addition to a Master’s Degree in Management and Marketing, Alex has a post-graduate Business Analysis diploma.
